QUESTIONS ABOUT LEARNING MATTERS
⭐ For Tier 3, can my child submit all 4 questions’ answers for your marking and feedback? Can they submit multiple drafts?
Yes! They can submit answers unlimited times, and I will provide detailed feedback / prompting questions to help them improve.
⭐My child is studying both The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas AND Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, which tier is applicable for him?
Tier 3 would be applicable. Your child will be sent the links to both scheduled calls, and can attend both if they’re available. They can also submit assignments to both texts — if they’re already / currently studying it in school.
⭐ My child is not studying The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas or Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed. He/She is studying The Giver, Macbeth, etc. Does your SLSL Programme cater to those studying other texts?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the SLSL programme, I’m not able to include other texts (otherwise my time will be too stretched!). I might create study packages for the other texts if demand is high, please feel free to submit a request and I will review demand on a case-by-case basis.
⭐ How are the provided questions structured & how similar is it to what my child’s school teaches?
Every school structures their Lower Secondary Lit assessment questions differently — some challenge their students by requiring them to write 25m essays similar to that of Upper Secondary level, while others break up the essay question to a few shorter questions –> i.e. dividing it to more manageable questions that range from 4m to 8m each. If you’d like examples of these, feel free to email me at cheryllie.sj@gmail.com to learn more.
Each month, I will provide a range of both types of assessment questions, so that your child is familiar with all types of questions and understands the expectations of them all. Occasionally, I will also provide students with unique practices, including learning how to grade sample paragraphs — this is very useful in helping them understand the marking format and what’s lacking in their own answers.
⭐ Will you also help my child understand literary devices so that they can do well in Unseen Prose and Poetry?
Yes, I will provide structured notes and relevant prose as well as poetry questions to strengthen their familiarity with literary analysis of the unseen section. Most schools typically accord 50% of the exam weightage to unseen texts, so this is important.
⭐ What if my child needs help understanding certain concepts like mood or irony, will your program cover that?
Yes, if it’s not featured in that month’s practice questions and videos, I will cover key concepts in the foundational videos of my SLSL program. Those can be revisited any time by your child. Examples of foundational concepts include mood, characterisation, relationships and a wide range of poetic devices such as consonance, alliteration, sibilance, hyperboles, diction etc.
⭐ What is the schedule & how does each tier work?
By the 1st Wednesday of each month, all subscribers will receive in their emails links to the Practice Questions and the recorded 1 to 1.5 hr video explaining the questions, its concepts and texts. All subscribers will receive model answers by the last day of each month.
All Tier 2 & 3 subscribers should submit their answers for marking by the 18th of each month. Their “Live” Video Call (these are recorded for any who can’t attend) will be on these 2 timings on the last Thursday of every month: Students studying The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas will e-meet from 6:30pm – 7:30pm; students studying Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed will e-meet from 8pm – 9pm. Students only attend the call that is relevant to them.

QUESTIONS ABOUT REGISTRATION & PAYMENT MATTERS
⭐ Can I sign my child up for Tier 1 first & upgrade to a higher tier when my child is ready?
Yes, you can do so. Just ensure that you register for a change of tier by the end of the month.
⭐ Is there a commitment lock-in period to subscriber to any Tier?
No lock-in period at all. You can end the subscription after a few months if you feel that it doesn’t suit your child’s needs.
⭐ How am I charged and what’s the billing cycle?
You will be charged on a monthly basis (in US Dollars, due to the currency limitations of my website/platform) and if you wish to cancel the subscription, you can do so by the end of the month. If you wish to upgrade tiers, you can also do so by the end of each month. Do note that there’s no lock-in period, so you can cancel any time.
⭐ Do you offer refunds?
If you registered by mistake (e.g. your child is not studying the set texts that is included in the programme), or if you feel that this programme is not beneficial for your child (i.e. after your child read my resources), I will provide you a full refund within 14 days after the month has started.

At the moment, I don’t have the bandwidth for this, but I might offer Exam Workshops or study packages for Upper Sec students if demand is high, please feel free to submit a request and I will review demand on a case-by-case basis.
